About us

A software studio that puts your mission first — whatever you're building.

Lifehouse Development is a custom software studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We work with solopreneurs, small teams, and mission-driven organizations — the people building something that matters, often without a technical co-founder to trust.

We believe healthy things grow — and they need the right structure to grow on. We started Lifehouse to be that structure: a studio that speaks plainly, prices honestly, ships MVPs that validate, and hands you the keys at the end. Your mission shapes the software, not the other way around.

What we believe

Four things that shape every decision we make.

Stewardship first

Every dollar is weighed against what it could do elsewhere. We build only what earns its place in your budget.

Radical transparency

Real prices, real timelines, real trade-offs. You always know what's happening and why.

Partner, not vendor

We behave like part of your team — because the work only matters if what you're building moves forward.

Built for real people

We design for the person who'll use it on their busiest day, not just the founder. If they can't use it, we didn't finish.

The person

One person. Full ownership. No handoffs.

When you work with Lifehouse, you work directly with the person doing the work — not a salesperson who disappears after the contract is signed.

Strategy, architecture, design, and the code itself.

Lifehouse is a one-person studio, and that's deliberate. The person you meet on the discovery call is the person who maps your problem, writes the blueprint, builds the software, and answers the phone when something breaks. Nothing gets lost in translation between a salesperson, a project manager, and a developer — because they're the same person.

It also means honest capacity. We take on a small number of projects at a time, tell you up front when the next start date is, and never staff your project with someone you've never met. When a project needs a skill outside our lane — illustration, copywriting, a specialized integration — we bring in trusted collaborators and tell you exactly who they are.

If you'd rather hire a big agency, we'll respect that. But if you want your software built by the person who actually understands your mission, that's what this is.
